Former FIU football star T.Y. Hilton continues to make Panther history long after leaving campus.

The Indianapolis Colts wide receiver became the first FIU football alumnus to play in the Pro Bowl, the NFL’s all-star game, on Jan. 25 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.

The 11th overall selection in the Pro Bowl Draft by Team Carter, Hilton finished the game with three receptions for 40 receiving yards, a two-point conversion and a touchdown in Team Carter’s 32-28 loss to Team Irvin.

Going up against teammate Vontae Davis, Hilton broke free from Davis with a stutter-step move and caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback and Indianapolis teammate Andrew Luck to put Team Carter ahead 13-9 in the final moments of the first quarter.

In his third season with the Colts, Hilton had a career-high 1,345 receiving yards and caught seven touchdowns with 82 receptions.

He played an integral role in a high-powered offense led by Luck that helped march the Colts all the way to the AFC Championship Game. In three playoff games, Hilton averaged 19.2 yards per catch and led all receivers with 211 total receiving yards.
