With the PC building under construction behind them, FIU’s founding employees—to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude—posed for a group photo in 1971, (See President Charles E. Perry in the center, standing.) Hot weather did not deter the gentlemen from donning suit jackets and ties, nor did the rough ground on which they are sitting keep the ladies from smiling. (A thin, white blanket beneath them served to spare their clothes.) Today FIU boasts more than 10,000 faculty and staff on two campuses and at several satellite locations.
