Watching Tropical Storm Erika: Final Update

The following communication was sent out to the university community Aug. 29 from Ruben D. Almaguer, assistant vice president of Emergency Operations.

Dear FIU family,

Tropical Storm Erika has dissipated and no longer poses a threat to our area. All university operations will proceed as planned during the weekend and next week.

Please note that storms can develop or change course unexpectedly and we are still in the most active time of the hurricane season. Therefore, it is very important to continue monitoring local news and be on the lookout for FIU emergency updates. It is likely that our area will experience heavy rains early in the week; please use caution and build additional time into your travel plans.

This is the last Erika update. Have a great weekend and a productive week ahead!
