Dear FIU family,

The FIU Emergency Management team continues to monitor Tropical Storm Erika, as it interacts with Hispaniola and moves closer to South Florida.

At this time university operations are proceeding as scheduled, including Saturday classes at all FIU locations. Please look for an announcement on Saturday regarding Sunday and Monday operations.

If you have not done so already, please prepare your personal disaster kit immediately and be ready for the effects of a storm hitting our area Sunday and Monday.

Faculty and staff, please take action to protect university property before leaving campus today, continue monitoring local news media and look for FIU Erika updates.

Please note that this email account will provide official information, along with the official FIU website and social media accounts. Please do not rely on any other communications for information about university operations. For more information on how to prepare, please refer to Thursday’s Erika update.

Thank you,

Ruben D. Almaguer

Assistant Vice President, Emergency Operations
