FIU Master Chef meets Brew Miami event to raise funds for United Way Miami

On Friday, Jan. 22, a group of 20 foodies (including students, staff, faculty, and alumni) will showcase their cooking talents and techniques in an attempt to win FIU’s Master Chef competition. Guest judges include: Eileen Andrade, owner and chef at FINKA Table & Tap; Gus Montes, chef at Panther Premier; Benjamin Murray, chef at Azul at the Mandarin Oriental; and Albert Diaz, chef at Zuma Restaurant.

Following the competition, Brew Miami will begin with local and international breweries offering unlimited beer samples of homebrews and craft beers. Spectators and participants will also enjoy food samples from local restaurants and beers from the Miami Brewers Alliance (M.B.A.), a non-profit organization created by South Florida brewers to promote and protect the burgeoning local brewing industry. M.B.A. members will present special selections of their locally produced beer in support of FIU Master Chef.  The Master Chef Competition will take place in the Graham Center Ballrooms.Brew Miami event will still be located between the blue and gold garages.

Tickets to the competition are $5 and will be sold in the ballrooms and online. Master Chef guests who are 21 and older can attend the Brew Miami Event for an additional $20. Brew Miami (21+ only) is $30 in advance and $35 at the door. General  admission tickets include a keepsake event cup, unlimited beer samplings from local breweries, homebrews and craft beers, live music by DJ Stephen Peters and limited food samplings. There will be food available for purchase from local restaurants. Tickets can be purchased online or at the Graham Center main office at MMC.

All proceeds from FIU Master Chef and Brew Miami will benefit United Way Miami.
