TEDxFIU: Sex, Lies and Ebola

Two-time TEDxFIU speaker Dr. Aileen Marty has travelled all over the world studying dangerous diseases like leprosy and the plague. Most recently, she headed to Africa during the worst Ebola outbreak ever, staying true to the words of Esther Meyers, her mentor’s wife: “If you have the skills and the training and the experience, and you are needed, you need to step up.”

In her TEDxFIU 2015 talk, Marty explained how the reckless actions of a few led to a horrific outbreak of Ebola and how the heroic actions of numerous Ebola fighters helped save the lives of many.

Marty is a professor in the Department of Medicine, Family Medicine and Community Health at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and an infectious disease physician.
