TEDxFIU: Finding purpose and peace

Child advocate Nelson F. Hincapie ’06 has worked directly with hundreds of children in foster care and many who are aging out of the system. The president and CEO of Voices for Children Foundation, his favorite part of the job is spending time with the children.

In his TEDxFIU 2015 talk, he said one thing that the children have taught him: “There is a tremendous amount of power in truth, and when they share their stories, they make peace with the past.”

Following that principle, Hincapie took to the TEDxFIU stage and shared his story of overcoming a broken childhood, finding his purpose and making peace with God.
