The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival celebrated its fifteenth anniversary last year.

South Beach. International chefs and wine producers. FIU students. World-class food and wine. All in five days.

It’s the perfect recipe for an unforgettable festival. The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival (SOBEWFF®), now celebrating its 16th year, will be hosted by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and FIU from Feb. 22-26.

The national event, which features some of the biggest names in the culinary world, not only gives numerous FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain real-world experience helping organize and work the event, but it also gives back to FIU in another way.

Over the years, the festival has raised a whopping $24 million for FIU. As always, 100 percent of the festival’s proceeds will go directly to FIU.

“Thanks to proceeds from the festival, our students have the unique advantage of learning in highly innovative, state-of-the-art facilities,” says Mike Hampton, dean of FIU’s Chaplin School. “As a result, our graduates are better prepared to assume leadership roles in the industry. We are very fortunate to have had the continuous support of the festival for the last sixteen years.”

To add even more sweetness to the deal, Panthers – be it students, alumni or faculty and staff – can get a 20 percent discount on tickets to two of the festival’s signature events. Students and faculty or staff can use promo code FIUSOBE17 and alumni can use promo code FIUALUM17.

The discount applies to: Barilla’s Italian Bites on the Beach, sponsored by HCP Media and the Miami Herald Company and hosted by Valerie Bertinelli and Alex Guarnaschelli on Feb. 23 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Goya Foods’ Grand Tasting Village featuring Mastercard Grand Tasting Tents & KitchenAid Culinary Demonstrations on Feb. 26 from noon to 5 p.m., where new this year, the festival’s signature Miami Beach event will feature a special collaboration with hospitality and nightlife guru Dave Grutman to present the David Grutman Experience, featuring sounds by INGROSSO, the internationally-renowned dynamic DJ.

Just a few of the dazzling names you can expect throughout the entire festival include Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart, Guy Fieri, Bobby Flay, Ayesha Curry, Valerie Bertinelli, Anne Burrell and Robert Irvine.

With such a cast of characters and all the promising events, it’s easy to see why alumni, students, community members and people from around the country make sure to mark SOBEWFF® on their calendars, with many coming back to the festival year after year. The festival currently attracts more than 65,000 guests yearly and features 90 events – all throughout various locations in South Florida.
