March 2017 in photos: Match Day, prosthetics and beating Miami

By Joel Delgado ’12 MS ’17

The madness of March has come to a close and we are one step closer to the end of the Spring 2017 semester at FIU.

But before we gear up for the final stretch lined with final papers and exams, let’s take a look back at some of our favorite moments and images from the month, captured by FIU photographers.

He’s safe! FIU and the University of Miami renewed their cross-town rivalry on the baseball diamond earlier this month and Panthers outfielder Kolby Follis (right, #14) scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give FIU a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Hurricanes at FIU Baseball Stadium. In his office at the Wolfsonian-FIU museum on Miami Beach, founder Mitchell “Micky” Wolfson Jr. shows off a photo of Mackenzie Castle. He once owned the historic estate in Genoa, Italy, in hopes of housing a sister museum there, known as the Wolfsoniana. While that collection now resides elsewhere in the city, Wolfson maintains a small apartment in the 112-year-old villa. His main home is in Paris. Photo by Doug Garland

While taking aerial photos for an upcoming FIU Magazine story on the Wolfsonian Museum, FIU photographer Doug Garland captured this panoramic image of Fisher Island, Government Cut and South Beach. The Wolfsonian-FIU is in there somewhere… Photo by Doug Garland
