We have officially reached the halfway mark of 2017! Even though it’s a bit more quiet on campus during the summer months, there are still plenty of exciting things happening on and off campus during June.

Before we kick off July, let’s take a look back at the month with some of our favorite moments and images captured by FIU photographers.

Miami FC midfielder Michael Lahoud attempts a shot during the club’s match against Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United FC on June 28 at FIU’s Riccardo Silva Stadium. A dramatic goal in the final moments of the match lifted Miami FC to a stunning 3-2 victory and sent the crowd of 9,004 fans at FIU into a frenzy. The win sends them to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals, where they will host FC Cincinnati on July 12 at FIU. Photo by Orovio Photography

Get a haircut at a tech conference? Why not! FIU had a strong presence at this year’s eMerge Americas tech conference and alumni were also on hand to showcase their innovations. An FIU team, including alumni Carlos Banks ’11 MS ’13 and Byron Gaskin ’11, developed an app called CLYPR, which provides barbers with a powerful system to efficiently run their business. Junior FIU swimmer Ally Mayhew studied abroad in South Africa this summer. During her stay, she visited the Table Mountain National Park in Cape Town, South Africa, which looks pretty incredible.

Unreal views. Kevin Cuellar, Gabriel Alonson and Andres Velazquez overlook a magnificent bay in Vernazza, Italy, during their study abroad experience.
