FIU medical disaster response team continues to help post-hurricane recovery

FIU’s medical disaster response team was again called on by the Florida Health Department to support local hospitals deal with the post-hurricane surge in emergency room patients.

FIU deployed an 18-member team to help out at Jackson South Community Hospital. The team is comprised of three paramedics, two physicians, two nurse practitioners, one physician assistant and 10 registered nurses.

In addition, for the second straight day FIU supplied medical personnel to aid in the emergency department at West Kendall Baptist Hospital. This contingent includes one physician and three registered nurses.
