FIU Centers and Institutes Florida International University's key missions--teaching, research, and service--are pursued in a variety of institutional areas, including academic departments, classrooms, libraries, labs, residence halls, and locker rooms. In one way or another, diversity appears in all of these arenas, whether by design or because of the nature and composition of the groups of students, scholars, and staff involved. Yet, there's an important teaching, research, and service arena where diversity is also highlighted but which often gets less attention than it deserves regarding diversity. That arena is the centers and institutes.
