Southeast Environmental
Research Center, received $559,573 from the Department of
the Interior, National Park Service, for his proposal "Documenting
the Importance of Water Flow to Everglades Landscape Structure
and Sediment Transport in Everglades National Park."
Burton Dunlop,
Center on Aging, was awarded $175,461 from the Florida Agency
for Health Care Administration for "Evaluation of Florida's
Medicaid Frail Elder Option.

International Relations, was interviewed by Leslie Stahl for
a 60 Minutes
piece on Cuba that aired Nov. 24th.
Delia Garcia, Education,
received a three-year $710,830 grant from the U.S. Department
of Education, Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Languages
Affairs, for the Professional Leaders in Urban Schools (PLUS)
Program. The project will provide tuition scholarships for
40 M-DCPS teachers in the completion of a Master in Urban
Education degree.
Michael Gross,
Geology, was awarded $199,004 from the Department of Energy
for "Characterization of Heterogeneities at the Reservoir
Scale: Spatial Distribution and Influence on Fluid Flow.
Divina Grossman,
Nursing, received $290,373 from
the Bureau of Health Professions for "PRIDE: Initiative
to Increase RN Workforce Diversity.
Niki Pissinou,
Electrical and Computer
Engineering, received $458,421 from the National Science Foundation
for "A Semantic Caching Service for Wireless Network
Centric Environments."
John Stuart,
Architecture, celebrated the recent publication of The
Gray Cloth: Paul Scheerbart's Novel on Glass Architecture.
The translation, introduction
and drawings were by Stuart.
Richard Sugg,
English and Humanities, edited and contributed an essay on
Robert Altman to the recently published book, Seeing
Beyond: Movies, Visions, and Values.
Suff has now published a scholarly book in each of the four
decades ('70s, '80s, '90s, '00) that FIU has been in existence.
