, Hospitality   Management, was presented with   the 2001 South Florida Tourism   Professional of the Year Award from   the Miami-Dade County Public   Schools Academy of Travel and   Tourism Advisory Board. She is the   11th recipient of this award.

  Mario De La Rosa, Social Work,   received $129,708 from The Thurston   Group, Inc., for his proposal "Haitian   Juvenile Arrestees: Prevention   Intervention Study."

  Guillermo Grenier, Center for   Labor Research, was awarded   $56,443 from Many Voices: One   Community for his proposal "The   Mosaic Initiative."

  Michael Gross, Geology, received   $80,336 from the Department of   Defense, Army Research Office, for   "Effects of Everglades Restoration on   Groundwater Exchange with Canals   in the Southern Everglades: Using   Geographic Information Systems   (GIS) to Assess Fracture Zone   Development at Multiple Scales."

  Sylvan Jolibois, Civil and   Environmental Engineering, was   awarded $45,000 from South   Carolina State University for   "Sujmmer Transportation Institute in   Intelligent Transportation Systems."

  Bao Qin Li, Mathematics, was   awarded $75,896 from the National   Science Foundation, for "Entire and   Meromorphic Functions in Several   Complex Variables."

  Chockalingam Viswesvaran,   Psychology, was elected a Fellow of   the Society for Industrial and   Organizational Psychology, the   society's highest   honor.Viswesvaran's election to   Fellowship status was based upon   his contributions in personality   measurement and integrity testing   for personnel selection and job   performance measurement. His work   has focused on the application of   psychology to improving the quality   of work life and promoting the safety,   health and well being of workers.
