The first grant, from   the Dade Community Foundation, is   in support of projects involving the   M'Ensemble African American   theatre company and the Marine   Animal Rescue Society (MARS).   The  second grant, from the Human   Rights  Foundation, is in support of   the  Teams Ropes Adventure   Challenge program.

  David Barton Bray, Environmental   Studies, was invited to give a paper   on sustainable rural development in   21st century Latin America at a   symposium on "21st Century Public   Policy in the Americas," sponsored   by the Woodrow Wilson International   Center for Scholars and the Library   of Congress. Bray also received a   $165,000 grant from the Ford   Foundation for a project on   "Community Forestry in Mexico:   Lessons Learned and Future   Prospects for a Global Model in   Community-Based Natural Forest   Management."

, International   Development Education and   Research, was elected to the Board   of Directors of the Comparative and   International Education Society, the   primary national and international   professional association in the field.   Escotet's term runs from 2001-2004.
