MIAMI, Fla. (July
29, 2002) -- As technology broadens the fields of architecture,
engineering and interior designers, professionals work to stay
one step ahead of the newest trend or technological advancement.
Professors and instructors at Florida International University's
School of Architecture, in conjunction with the College of Continuing
and Professional Studies, have created a new certificate program
geared toward professionals in the design, architecture and
engineering fields entitled Certificate in Advanced Digital
Design (CADD) program.
CADD is a new and unique multimedia program that is specifically
geared for professionals and students who need to expand their
presentation and web graphics skills.
The full program is comprised of six courses that are divided
into two tracks - the 3D Track and the New Media Track. Individuals
can take single courses or a combination of courses for professional
development.
“The tracks allow the participant to focus on the area
they would like to concentrate on,” said Kevin Smith,
assistant professor in the FIU School of Architecture and instructor
for the program. “The 3D Track is geared toward design
professionals familiar with drawing in AUTOCAD, but who would
like to focus on using the latest visualization tools to take
construction documents into the third dimension. The New Media
Track is geared toward the design professional who is interested
in using the latest and most impacting computer presentation
graphics techniques.”
New courses in the 3D track
are 3D Modeling, Rendering and Animation. The New Media Track
courses are Web Design, Interactive Media and Visual Effects.
Both tracks are required for the successful completion of the
certificate.
