MIAMI, Fla. (Oct.
29, 2002) – Florida International University will
celebrate Halloween this year with a special twist – candy,
treats and football.
FIU’s Athletics department will kick off a special Thursday
night football game, which will be televised live on Sunshine
Network, with a spooky Halloween party for South Florida’s
kids at 6 p.m. outside of the FIU Stadium, on the University Park,
Southwest Eighth Street and 107 Avenue.
Children under 18 will be able to “trick or treat”
for candy on the grounds just outside of the FIU Stadium from
6 – 8 p.m. In addition, all children under 18 who are accompanied
by a parent or guardian will have free admission to the game against
Jacksonville University. Adults with children will pay a special
rate of $6.
“We want our neighborhood kids to have a safe and happy
Halloween,” said Pauline Winick, FIU marketing director
for football. “At FIU they will be able to dress up, eat
some candy and watch a great football game too.”
The game, which will take place at 8 p.m. at the FIU Stadium,
was originally set for the weekend, but was rescheduled to accommodate
the Sunshine Network broadcast.
