Advisory Board to Play Significant Role
in Program Development
MIAMI, Fla. – (Oct. 21, 2002) – Using
the College’s unique expertise and experience in international
human resource management, FIU’s Chapman Graduate School
of Business recently launched an innovative Master of Science
in Management—Human Resource Management program. An advisory
board comprised of top multinational HR executives and well-known
researchers in the field also was established to provide ongoing
curriculum feedback and student mentoring.
“The program has a strong international and information
technology focus, in keeping with the Chapman School’s two
key areas of excellence, assuring that students will graduate
with practical experience in all dimensions of international and
web-based human resource management,” said José de
la Torre, dean of the Chapman School. “Students also will
benefit from interaction with prominent HR executives who have
worked in Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Europe and are
willing to share their insights into the field.”
Some of the HR executives who make up the advisory board are from
top multinational companies such as Northern Bank Trust, Telemundo,
Xerox, Citi Bank, Turnberry Isle, SunTrust, General Mills, Johnson
& Johnson, MTV Latin America, Union Bank, and others.
De la Torre added that this is the only state program focusing
on human resources at the graduate level. The program meets Friday
evenings and Saturday mornings, includes 12 courses, and can be
completed in 16 months. It also offers flexibility, enabling participants
to customize their learning experiences to their interests.
