Millennium Strategic Plan—Action Plan
Priorities |

Open Forums: June 3, 2003 |
As
the FIU Community enters the implementation phase of our Millennium
Strategic Plan and as we move forward
with this endeavor, I
want all of us to remember the premises that served to focus this planning
exercise.
- We are committed to building a University that emphasizes
quality, accountability, and competitiveness, as we serve our
South Florida community, the state, and the nation.
- We are committed to improving the salaries of faculty and
staff.
- We are committed to maintaining our Research Extensive classification.
- We are committed to a successful implementation of our information
technology plan.
- We are committed to maintaining and improving the physical
facilities of the University.
The participation of the FIU Community
in this planning process has been and continues to be very important.
This has been a University-wide effort
that
began with President Maidique’s Millennium Town Hall meetings in 2000,
to hear from faculty, students, staff, and administrators their concerns
and their dreams
about the future of our University, and continued with the work of the 17
Cross-Functional Planning Teams. These teams involved nearly 200 faculty
and staff. And we thank
everyone who participated.
The next step is to solicit your
input. For this purpose, we have scheduled two open forums on
June 3, 2003. At the forums we will present ten Action
Plans that
the Academic Affairs Leadership Team has recommended for further consideration.
These ten recommendations can be found at: http://www.fiu.edu/~opie/cfds.xls.
The Open Forums will be held at the Biscayne Bay Campus on June 3, 2003,
from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in WUC 100 and at University Park on June 3, 2003,
from 2
p.m. to 3 p.m. in GC 140.
In preparation for the Open Forum,
please review the Cross-Functional Action Team reports that you
can access at http://www.fiu.edu/~pie/crossfcn.htm.
We look forward to seeing you at the forums on June 3rd. |
