Siemens Executive to Discuss Future of
Telecommunications on Oct. 1

An executive with one of the world’s major telecommunications corporations will visit FIU on Wed., Oct. 1 and present a lecture on his industry.

Harald Braun, president of the Carrier Networks Division of Siemens Information and Communication Networks, Inc., will engage students on the topic of "Future Trends and Challenges in the Telecommunications Industry." His lecture will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Graham Center Ballroom at FIU-University Park.

Braun will discuss how network convergence and emerging Internet technologies will continue to change not only the way we communicate, but also how we live, work and play. After his presentation, Braun will discuss student's interests in the telecommunications industry in an open Q & A session.

Braun is a member of the FIU School of Computer Science Industry Advisory Board. This presentation is sponsored by the FIU School of Computer Science and the Student Chapter of the ACM and SOC.

As president of the Carrier Networks Division of Siemens Information and Communication Networks in the U.S. since 2002, Braun heads U.S. operations for Siemens' access, optical and switching products and solutions, as well as the division's sales, marketing, and service and support functions.
