All FIU Students to Receive New Identification Numbers

Beginning Feb. 9, the university will issue to all FIU students a new identification number, known as Panther ID. Students will be notified of their new Panther ID only through their FIU email account (webmail.fiu.edu). The Panther ID will become the primary form of identification for each student, gradually replacing each student’s current ID number.

Use of the Panther ID is a major component of the implementation of PantherSoft, the University’s new web-based student and administrative computer system. This new system will be used for all student transactions by the end of summer 2004. PantherSoft will integrate each student’s information and will allow students to access their records online anytime, anywhere, further enhancing self-service capabilities.
