CBA again ranks in U.S.News & World Report’s Top 10

FIU’s College of Business Administration has retained its No. 7 spot for the second year in a row (up from No. 9 two years ago) in U.S.News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges 2007” annual survey, which ranks business schools nationwide with undergraduate programs focusing on international business.

“Being named among the best business schools in the country by U.S. News’ renowned ranking strengthens the sense of dedication our faculty, students and community have to achieving excellence,” said Joyce Elam, CBA executive dean. “We are always forging ahead to the future of business education and we will continue striving to prepare students to become brilliant, well-rounded professionals able to take on any challenge posed by large, multinational corporations and small businesses alike.”

The newsmagazine’s ranking has been considered a key reference tool for students and families evaluating top-quality collegiate programs since its inception in 1983. In addition to the national recognition, CBA also captured the number one spot in Florida.

“We are very excited to have maintained our status of excellence this year,” said FIU President Modesto A. Maidique. “The commitment made year after year by the student body, our top-notch faculty and our dedicated staff have made CBA what it is today.”

The college is well-known at the national level for its academic programs and diversity among students, faculty and staff.

“We take pride in the quality of our international business programs and are very pleased that all the academic tools and services of the university are recognized worldwide,” added Maidique. “Being in such a culturally diverse city as Miami, FIU is a true hub of its complex global business arena. Rightfully so, it is an honor to be leading the ranks in the state of Florida.”

CBA, South Florida’s leading business school with unique expertise in international business, entrepreneurship and a broad range of financial services, is the largest of FIU’s professional schools.

Among the college’s more than 30,000 alumni are some of South Florida’s most successful business and civic leaders and entrepreneurs. Approximately 6,000 students are enrolled in undergraduate business courses in the college’s R. Kirk Landon Undergraduate School of Business and more than 1,000 graduate students attend its Alvah H. Chapman, Jr., Graduate School of Business every year. More than 1,000 professionals participate annually in one or more of its professional and executive education programs.
