Florida International University’s Summit of the Americas Center (SOAC) will host “Ten Years of Venezuelan Foreign Policy: Impacts on the Hemisphere and the World,” the ninth conference in SOAC’s State of Democracy in the Americas Conference Series. The conference will provide an open public forum where an array of world-class experts will discuss and evaluate the real impacts of Venezuela’s aggressive and unorthodox global projection.

Jorge Castañeda, former Mexican foreign minister, will give the keynote address during the lunch session on Thursday, May 29 from 1:30-3 p.m. Experts such as Francisco Rodriguez, Javier Corrales, Maria Teresa Romero and others will discuss Venezuela’s Latin American and global relations, the country’s preferential petroleum pacts, financing of leftist and populist allies in Bolivia, Ecuador, and Nicaragua, the impacts on regional security and its close relations with Cuba, Iran, China and Belarus.
