MIAMI, Fla. (Nov. 27, 2001) --
The spirit of the season hits a new milestone this year as the
Florida International University Festival of Trees celebrates
its 15th year.
Holiday "trees" - imaginative
creations of some of South Florida's premier design professional
will once again deck the marbled halls of One Brickell Square
in downtown Miami. A special preview gala will kick off the display
on Thursday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
"This is the event for South
Floridians in the architecture and design field," said Tom
Graboski from Tom Graboski Design Associates, Inc.. "It's
also become a great event for the community at large. There are
great trees to see and a lot of fun to be had." Involved
in the festival since its inception 15 years ago, Graboski's office
participates each year by designing a tree that gets displayed.
Preview tickets will benefit
the FIU School of Architecture Interior Design Endowed Scholarship
Fund. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door. Musical
entertainment, food and open bar will be part of the evening's
event.
The original designs on display this year include the works of

Students from FIU's School of
Architecture, co-sponsored by Publix Super Markets, Inc., and
the Wolfsonian-FIU are creating a tree from aluminum food cans
that, when dismantled, will be donated to the Daily Bread Food
Bank.
Additional event sponsors include Bacardi-Martini USA, Inc., Brickell
Square and Maharam Fabrics.
After the preview gala, the trees
will be on display, free and open to the public, at One Brickell
Square, 801 Brickell Avenue from Dec. 7 - 30 from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
including weekends.
