May 21, 2008 In our efforts to communicate the latest budget developments here and in Tallahassee in a timely manner, the university is disseminating weekly budget updates from President Modesto A. Maidique. These communiques are sent to our students, faculty and staff, alumni, donors, FIU Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, President's Council, select media, elected officials and other interested parties. We believe that timely information on a topic of such critical importance will benefit the entire university community and help to continue the university's forward momentum. In This Issue:
Please be reminded that our next Town Hall meeting is scheduled for tomorrow morning, Thursday, May 22, at 9 a.m. in the Graham Center Ballrooms. As with previous Town Hall meetings, this event will be simulcast to the Biscayne Bay Campus (Wolfe University Center second-floor ballroom) and the Pines Center (Room 108). I ask that supervisors of employees who do not have regular access to email please make this information available to those employees. Your participation in our budget process is vital, so please plan to attend. Looking ahead, there will be a meeting of the USPS Senate on Friday, May 23, to recap the information provided at Thursday’s Town Hall meeting. Please note the same information will be discussed at both meetings. The Board of Trustees will meet to make final decisions regarding our budget on Thursday, June 12. Please see the timeline below for details regarding upcoming meetings. Timeline
