FIU and the University of Miami to host worldwide quadricentenary tribute to John Milton


WHAT: Florida International University and the University of Miami will present a two-day symposium to commemorate the 400th anniversary of John Milton’s birth titled “Milton Alive at 400: Samson Agonistes and Religious Violence”. Renowned scholars from around the country will join noted faculty members from the two regional universities to hold panel discussions on the complex subject of religion, politics and violence of today as they relate to the ideas of the 17th Century’s famous poet. This worldwide quadricentenary celebration of Milton’s birth will also feature a rare reading of his closet drama, Samson Agonistes


WHEN AND WHERE:
The symposium will take place on Thursday, Feb. 26, and Friday, Feb. 27, on both FIU’s University Park campus, 11200 S.W. 8th St. in Miami, and the University of Miami, 1380 Miller Dr. in Coral Gables.
