FIU College of Law auction to support public service

WHAT: The Florida International University College of Law will hold its second annual Summer Public Interest Fellowships Auction, an initiative to fund and generate support for students working in full-time summer positions at public service organizations. Proceeds will go directly toward the college’s in-house summer intern fellowship program, which encourages students to work in service-oriented organizations. Last year’s auction raised more than $10,000, allowing two FIU students the opportunity to intern at public service organizations and learn the importance of helping those in need.

Auction participants can choose from a wide range of items thanks to donations from FIU faculty, administrators, local business owners, vendors and the College of Law community. Prizes will include spa treatments, tickets to brunch at the historic Biltmore Hotel, gift certificates to Casa D’Angelo, Romano’s Macaroni Grill and Chili’s, as well as two beginner packages for salsa classes.

WHO: The Public Interest Auction is open to the public.

 WHEN: Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Rafael Diaz-Balart Hall Courtyard, FIU College of Law, 11200 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33199

FOR MORE INFORMATION: Anyone interested in donating an item to the auction or making a financial contribution, please contact Maria Madriz at maria.madriz@fiu.edu or 305-348-2444.
