Test of the University’s Emergency Notification System

University Park and Biscayne Bay Campus, including all housing areas, will participate in the important drill on Feb. 5. If your VoIP phone does not receive both the text and audio messages, FIU administrators want to know.

A test of University Park and Biscayne Bay Campus Emergency Notification Systems will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009. Broadcasts will be made in the morning at approximately 10:45 a.m. Audio messages will be sent to strategically located external speakers throughout both campuses, including all housing areas. Audio and text messages will be sent to all VoIP phones, including emergency phones in designated classrooms and labs.

Your feedback is very important. If a VoIP phone in your area does not receive both the text and audio messages on Feb. 5, please email emc@fiu.edu with the following information:

  • – MAC address of your phone (found on the middle label on the back of the IP phone. For classroom & lab phones, provide location only)
  • – Test time
  • – Description of test results (e.g. Received audio but no text. Received text but no audio. Did not receive audio or text.)

After the test, please press “Exit” on the IP phones to clear any text messages. Also, if you are on the phone during the test, you will hear the emergency test message, but your caller will not.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
