Women healers to discuss craft at FIU


A panel discussion featuring women alternative healers will be held on March 12 at UP in honor of Women’s History Month.

A group of women alternative healers will participate in a panel discussion titled “Women as Healers: Healing Ourselves, Our Communities, and Our World” on Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m., in honor of Women’s History Month.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in GC 140 at University Park.

Panelists will include Dr. Carol Davis, professor at the UM School of Medicine and author of a study on the role of empathy in healing; Ronnie Newman, a Vedic medicine practitioner from the Art of Living Foundation; Lisa Van Ostrand, a Taoist teacher of bio-energetic healing techniques; and Yeyefini Efunbolade, founder of the International Institute of Afrikan Studies and Knowledge and a practitioner of ancient Yoruban shamanic healing techniques.

The panel will be moderated by Rev. Linnea Pearson, the Inter-Faith/Unitarian Universalist chaplain at Biscayne Bay Campus.
