FIU to host veterans interested in new G.I. Bill

WHAT: Florida International University will host an informational session to update veterans on the new educational benefits provided by the G.I. Bill, which was dramatically modified last year. The G.I. bill provides college or vocational education, among other benefits, for returning veterans. The latest changes apply for veterans who entered the service after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Among the new benefits, students who qualify will have more time to take advantage of the money provided and will receive dollars for housing, books and supplies-a benefit not provided under the bill’s former version.

WHO: Florida International University’s Veterans Assistance Office and the Florida Sate Approving Agency will conduct the seminar.

WHEN: Thursday June 25, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Panther Stadium Club, located in the FIU Stadium on the university’s Maidique Campus, 11200 S.W. 8 St., Miami, FL 33199.
