Campus: University Park
In a nutshell: I oversee our different alumni chapters and all activities and programs for our young alumni group, YUPA! (Young Urban Professional Alumni).
Number of years at FIU: 4
What do you enjoy most about your job?
Interacting with our alumni and coming up with creative ways to keep them connected to one other and to FIU.
What do you think faculty/staff and students should know about your department?
Membership in the FIU Alumni Association is a great way to stay connected, support the university, and show your Panther Pride.
Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?
The gym for their Zumba and spinning classes: it’s how I de-stress.
If there is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU, what would it be?
This is a great school with numerous opportunities for both professional and personal growth.
Family snapshot:
My family is Cuban. I live with my parents, my younger sister, my grandparents and my dog, Tuti.
Word that best describes you: Social butterfly.
First paying job: I worked in the information booth at Miami International Mall my senior year of high school.
Favorite TV show: I’m a huge fan of “Sex and the City” and “Friends.” My boyfriend recently introduced me to “24.” It’s awesome.
Your proudest accomplishment:
I’m a proud Golden Panther. I graduated from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in 2006.
What do you do when you are not working at FIU?
Study! I’m finishing up my MBA, so homework takes up a lot of my time.
I think this is a good way to know what our graduates are doing. However, I think the overseas alumns are left out of this area. But I think it is great the way we are kept informed.
Why don't any of these people move out of their parents house, if you have a job, have graduated from college you should be living on your own! Grow up…typical Miami student…
Jon,
It's a culture thing. Nothing wrong with living at home and saving money. Free your mind.
So proud of my older sister! 🙂
