The 5 C’s of Flu Prevention


FIU’s University Health Services would like to make sure that FIU students (as well as the FIU community) are aware of the following preventive measures against the spread of seasonal flu and H1N1.

5 C’s of flu prevention

Clean your hands from frequently or use hand sanitizer to help protect you from germs. Cleaning your workstation can also be very helpful.

Cover your nose and mouth (with a tissue or your elbow/sleeve) when you cough or sneeze to prevent spreading your germs.

Consider staying home if you are sick to protect others from exposure to your germs.

Call your health care provider for guidance if you experience a fever, cough, sore throat, or body aches.  FIU students should call FIU University Health Services with any health related questions regarding H1N1 at:  BBC: 305-919-5620 ext. 2    MMC: 305-348-2401 ext. 22

Communicate with your professor(s) or immediate supervisor if you feel you need to be absent from school or work.  FIU Supervisors with questions regarding how to handle H1N1 situations should contact Joann Cuesta-Gomez in HR at (305) 348-3538 for assistance.
