FIU and Molina Healthcare have partnered to break the Guinness record in simultaneous yo-yoing with an event at Modesto A. Maidique Campus on the first day of the 2009 Fall Semester, Monday, Aug. 24.

More than 500 Golden Panthers – and Roary – are expected to participate in the event at the GC Ballroom.

FIU CFO Kenneth Jessell and David Pollack, Molina Healthcare’s new health plan president, will co-host the event. Coral Gables competitive yo-yo champ Steven Kinder will perform a demonstration to warm up the crowd.

The goal is to use the yo-yo as a visual to approach talking about the problems with yo-yo dieting and promote the benefits of health, well-being, nutrition and exercise among college students and Miami’s youth (Men’s Fitness magazine named the Magic City the “fattest city” in America in 2009).
