It’s back by popular demand — FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg will answer your questions via video in a segment that will run in News@FIU in October. This segment is a follow-up to his popular Q & A video that ran in late August.
If you’ve got a question you’d like to ask him, submit it via the comments section at the end of this post or via an email to news@fiu.edu.
In addition to December 24, 25, 31 and January 2 will the University be closed for any additional days this year around the December holidays?
How is it that the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum on Miami Beach has such a large collection of Art Deco objects but that museum never puts on an Art Deco exhibition during the annual Art Deco Weekend held on Miami Beach each January? It would seem that since this is a State of Florida financially supported museum, that putting on an Art Deco exhibition to attract paying visitors to the museum would also give FIU more exposure to a national and inter-national community of visitors who come specifically to Miami Beach to partake in Art Deco weekend. It seems FIU is missing out on this opportunity to give itself additional promotion by not having the Wolfonian put on a specific Art Deco exhibition to draw in those visitors who come to Miami Beach for Art Deco Weekend to the museum.
Will you be giving yourself large bonuses like former President Maidique?
Amidst the opening of new Law and Med Schools, it seems as if the University is forgetting its Undergraduates. What do you plan on doing to improve the quality of Undergraduate Education and enhance opportunities?
Dear President Rosenberg,
Why is it that housing students, who pay to live on FIU’s campus are subjected to sharing their parking with the faculty & staff who in addition to taking up the FEW parking spaces available for housing students, have marked parking spots in every lot and garage on campus?
As a housing student, it is very disparaging, & very infuriating to see fellow housing students ticketed because faculty & staff park in housing lots, though they have those marked spots made available to them. Imagine living in an apartment building and having to park over three blocks away on a regular basis because someone else, who doesn’t even live in your building, parks there on a regular basis? And if you in turn complain to parking & traffic, and they told you that this person could park wherever they please, even though they have privileged, special parking. It is an outrage to discover that.
What will you do to make sure that the rights and concerns of the housing students as residents of this university are respected in your time as president of this university?

Dear President Rosenberg,
I have been ticketed ten times for the same thing, the aforementioned letter that I asked about on August 24, 2009. Parking & traffic approved half of my ticket appeals and declined the other half, leaving me with a bill of $125.00. I decided to write you again because it is really horrible that FIU is not considering their housing students and the logic for parking nearby the buidling that they live in. The parking is not adequate nearby. I have problems with my foot but am not classified as “handicapped” so am I then supposed to park in a parking garage across campus? What about when I need to bring in groceries and/or books? Am I not entitled as a resident? Its sad.

Answering to Julio Iglesias:
Dear comrade: I assume that you are on top of FIU issues, but apparently, you missed this: Our current President Rosenberg refused to accept a substantial increase in his salary. Besides, he does not have the power to give himself any bonus. We should be more aware about who is our President. His values, ethical principles, feelings, religious principles, and his academic background. Then, judge after the facts.
Please, begin being a positive person, be proud of our institution and who represent it. I am sure you are one of the good students who have a bright future in your career, think about it. Start using common sense, and go ahead. Be a Golden Panther. God Bless You.
