Women’s soccer vies for No. 1 seed at conference tournament

Women’s soccer wants to pack the stands for Friday night’s critical game against conference foe Florida Atlantic. At stake for the Panthers is the regular season championship and No. 1 seed at next week’s Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament.

The Oct. 30 game begins at 7 p.m. at the soccer field (next to the baseball stadium).

The hard-charging Panthers (10-5-3 overall, 8-1-1 in conference play) have had a break-out season. With a 3-2 victory over Arkansas State Oct. 25, the team recorded its sixth straight victory, breaking the school record for longest winning streak.

Friday’s game, which is Senior Night, is free for FIU students with proper ID, $3 for FIU faculty/staff with proper ID and $5 for members of the community.

This year’s Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament will take place Nov. 4-7 at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Tournament details and the team’s playing schedule will be provided after Friday’s game.
