It was a sunny summer morning when FIU Magazine art director Aileen Solá and photographer Michael Upright met the cover boys for the Fall 2009 issue: FIU President Modesto A. Maidique and Mark Rosenberg, the university’s president-designate.

Surrounded by a group of aides, Maidique and Rosenberg entered the library in the Presidential House where FIU Magazine had set up its cameras.

They emptied their pockets, listened to Solá and Upright’s direction and posed for what Solá described as “a dramatic photo capturing the transition between two presidents.”
