FIU Theatre alum makes European debut

Ground Up and Rising Theatre, Miami 2009

FIU Theatre alum Meshaun Arnold ’05 will debut The Right to Remain…Tupac, a one-man show based on the life of rapper and hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, in England Feb. 25 at The Point. Written and performed by the FIU graduate, The Right to Remain…Tupac was Arnold’s senior thesis project.

Arnold, whose stage name is Meshaun Labrone, has been a dedicated Tupac fan since his first album 2pacalypse Now.

“I believe that in Tupac’s efforts to save the community from racism, inequality and oppression, he failed to identify and overcome the inner demons that we all battle at one point: anger, resentment and bitterness,” he says. “The Right to Remain is not only a psychological and spiritual autopsy of brother Tupac, but one of us all.”

Arnold is now working on a soundtrack to debut in The Right to Remain… Tupac. He also will be introducing his book Grasping at Needles, a collection of poetry he has written in the past 15 years.
