Artist Romero Britto discusses “The Art of Happiness”

The artist credits his success to his unrestrained and optimistic outlook on life.

World-renowned neo-pop artist Romero Britto shared with the FIU community the secret to happiness as well as the keys to success in the business of art March 4 at Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

Britto, known for his colorful and inspiring creations, as well as business acumen, told the audience in the College of Business Complex that he strives to bring joy to people through his work.

“No one likes to live in misery,” he said. “Sometimes I feel concerned people may not get the right message, but I think they are because otherwise I wouldn’t be as successful as I am today.

“I know what is happening out there, but I don’t want to repeat that in my work.”

When asked how he achieved his success in business, Britto advised the audience of business and art students, “Do something you love. Most people think about the end. I think about the journey; it is the most exciting thing.”

Britto’s paintings and sculptures are currently featured on five continents in more than 100 hundred galleries. He also has been tapped to bring his unique visual interpretation to brands such as Absolut, Disney, Movado, Campari, Pepsi, Evian and Audi.

In 2007, he started the Britto Foundation to lend his time, resources and talent to children and organizations around the world. He donates to more than 300 charitable organizations and is committed to developing and supporting the powerful role art plays in world issues.
