In a nutshell: I provide confidential administrative assistance to the president, serve as liaison for constituent issues referred to the Office of the President, assist with the formulation and implementation of internal office operating procedures and advance protocol, oversee all information technology matters and supervision of research assistants and serve as liaison to the Office of Community Relations to advance the mission of the president related to community outreach and engagement.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The opportunity to work with so many talented individuals throughout South Florida who seek to improve the quality of life throughout our communities.

What do you think students and your fellow faculty/staff should know about your department?

In the Office of the President every student counts! Our staff strives to provide the highest level of service to create the most comfortable learning community for our students and working environment for our faculty and staff.

Where is your favorite spot on campus? Why?

FIU Stadium. Each fall, it serves as the central gathering place for generations of FIU students, alumni, professional staff and our ever-expanding base of supporters from throughout South Florida.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about FIU?

FIU is the vehicle through which Miami-Dade can heal the hurt, repair the damaged and effectuate the destined within our community.

Family snapshot: I am the younger of two boys. I come from a family of educators (both of my parents are/were longtime educators in Broward County).

Word that best describes you: Willing.

First paying job: A paid internship within the Bureau of Human Resources (benefits section) at the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Favorite TV show: The West Wing.

What is playing on your iPod?

An eclectic mix of smooth acoustic, contemporary Christian, rejuvenating rock and soulful country.

Your proudest accomplishment:

Being a member of the Journey of Hope ’07 (San Francisco to Washington, D.C.) & Gear Up Florida ’08 (Miami to Tallahassee) cycling teams, which not only raised thousands of dollars to support the programs of Push America and its partner organizations, but also raised awareness about the countless abilities of people with disabilities.

What do you do when you are not working at FIU?

When I find the time, I thoroughly enjoy cycling and traveling. I also take pride in advising the gentlemen of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at both FIU and UM.
