FIU hosts screening of Univisión 23’s ’50 Años de Exilio’


FIU’s  Latin American and Caribbean Center, Cuban Research Institute, and School of International and Public Affairs joined Univisión 23 in hosting a screening of the documentary 50 Años de Exilio Tuesday, May 18, at Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The documentary, which was produced by Univisión 23, focuses on the Cuban-American community’s achievements of the past 50 years.

The screening was preceded by a reception sponsored by Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine. A panel discussion followed the film: Univisión 23 anchor Alina Mayo Azze and producer Norberto Perdomo were joined by FIU experts Uva de Aragón of the Cuban Research Institute; Juan Antonio Blanco of the Latin American and Caribbean Center; and Marifeli Pérez-Stable and Guillermo Grenier, both of the Department of  Global and Sociocultural Studies.
