FIU to host screening of “50 Años de Exilio”


WHAT: Florida International University’s Latin American and Caribbean Center, the Cuban Research Institute, and the School of International and Public Affairs will join Univisión 23 in hosting a screening of the documentary “50 Años de Exilio.” The documentary, produced by Univisión 23, focuses on the Cuban-American community’s achievements over the past 50 years.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with Univisión 23 anchor Alina Mayo Azze and producer Norberto Perdomo, who will be joined by FIU experts Uva de Aragón of the Cuban Research Institute; Juan Antonio Blanco of the Latin American and Caribbean Center; and Marifeli Pérez-Stable and Guillermo Grenier, both of the Department of  Global and Sociocultural Studies. The documentary is in Spanish with English subtitles. The panel discussion will be in English.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 18, 2010. Reception sponsored by Las Vegas Cuban Cuisine is at 6:30 p.m. Screening begins at 7:30 p.m. Panel discussion is at 8:30 p.m.
