Watching Tropical Storm Bonnie

The FIU Emergency Management Group is monitoring Tropical Storm Bonnie. South Florida is under a tropical storm warning, which means that our weather is expected to deteriorate by Friday with high winds and heavy rains possible. This is a good time for all members of the university community to review office and home storm plans and secure any necessary supplies.

Please stay alert to advisories issued by the National Hurricane Center several times a day. You can expect additional messages from the EMG as conditions warrant. University updates are also made available on the University’s news page, newsarchives.fiu.edu, social media outlets and on 305-348-HELP. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the channels of communication the university uses during emergencies.

Finally, with digital TV now in effect, please check to see that your portable and battery powered emergency TVs are compatible.  Most of the ones that you have relied upon in prior years will no longer work. Please consult http://www.dtv.gov/ for more information.
