Strategic plan to be discussed at Sept. 30 meeting

The university community will gather at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, to discuss FIU’s Worlds Ahead Strategic Plan.

The strategic plan website has been updated with the latest draft of the plan. Visitors to the site will find five alternate versions of FIU’s mission statement and three alternate versions of the vision statement. According to Douglas Wartzok, FIU provost and executive vice president, “The differences [in the statements] are in presentation rather than substance, but a clear, concise and comprehensive statement is essential for communication to internal and external constituencies.”

The plan describes seven goals, four initiatives to achieve these goals, and four collaborative content areas: the arts, environment, globalization and h ealth. Also included are a number of quantitative targets for students, faculty, staff and research. Please take time to review the draft and be prepared to provide comments at the Townhall meeting.
