FIU in Washington, D.C.

Members of FIU’s Office of Governmental Relations work year ’round in Tallahassee and Washington, D.C., advocating for the university and its priorities. An important part of their role in D.C. is educating our Congressional delegation about the critical nature of FIU’s priorities. These priorities seek to engage the university in meeting regional and national needs such as national security and defense readiness; quality healthcare for underserved minorities; economically viable transit-oriented development; hurricane and windstorm research; and preservation of coastal ecosystems.

FIU’s Vice President of Governmental Relations Steve Sauls and International Forensic Research Institute Director Jose Almirall were in Washington, D.C., Tuesday, Nov. 30. Both men took time out of their hectic schedules to file these brief, on-location reports. Thanks guys, and go FIU!
