Holiday Concert to benefit School of Music Scholarship Fund


WHAT: The FIU School of Music will host a holiday concert to fund the creation of the Carlos Piantini Scholarship Fund. Piantini was founding conductor of the FIU Symphony Orchestra and a former faculty member at the FIU School of Music.

WHO: The FIU Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, directed by Grzegorz Nowak, will perform Handel’s Messiah and other holiday works. Nowak is the principal associate conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a new faculty member in the School of Music. Joining the orchestra is the FIU Women’s Chorus, and as a special treat, the Amernet String Quartet — FIU’s quartet-in-residence — will be sitting with the orchestra, playing alongside the students.

WHEN AND WHERE: Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m., in the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center Concert Hall at Modesto A. Maidique Campus, 11200 SW 8 Street in southwest Miami-Dade.

TICKET INFORMATION: $10 for FIU students and FIU Alumni Association members, $15 for seniors and FIU faculty/staff, and $25 general admission. To purchase tickets, click here.
