FIU to recognize individuals and organizations in public health for their contributions to the local community


WHAT:  The Path Awards was established to recognize individuals and organizations in public health, including social work and dietetics, for their contributions and commitment to promoting and protecting the health of the South Florida community.  The awards also serve to raise the community’s awareness and understanding of the contributions made by public health professionals. 

The 2011 Path Awards recipients are: Paul A. Moore, from the Broward County Health Department, who will be awarded in the category of Health Policy and Management; Maribeth Rousseff, from Baptist Health South Florida, who will be awarded in the category of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention; Fermin Leguin, from the Miami-Dade County Health Department, who will be awarded in the category of Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance; Suzanne Milano-Berrios, from the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, who will be awarded in the category of Social Work; John Farina, from the Miami-Dade Environmental Resource Management, who will be awarded in the category of Environmental and Occupational Health; Florenzia Watson Davis, from Palm Beach County Health Department, who will be awarded in the category of Dietetics and Nutrition; and Marisel Losa, from the Health Council of South Florida, who will receive the Robert Stempel Award.

WHO:  Florida International University’s Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work is committed to recognizing outstanding South Floridians who are working to improve and maintain the health of the community.  The awards are intended to recognize community contributions and achievements of the recipients. 

WHEN AND WHERE:  From 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m., April 5, at Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus, Graham Center Ballroom, 11200 S.W. 8th Street, Miami.
