Florida Board of Governors appoints Gerald Grant, Jr. to FIU Board of Trustees


The Florida Board of Governors appointed Gerald Grant, Jr., to serve on Florida International University’s Board of Trustees. 

Grant is the branch director of financial planning for AXA Advisors, LLC – South Florida Branch.

“FIU has made a tremendous difference in my life,” said Grant. “I have made a personal commitment to be a role model for other alumni at FIU. As a trustee, the decisions I make will impact the lives of thousands of students that will enter the doors of FIU. I will not take that responsibility lightly and will make sure that we make each student’s learning experience memorable.”

At AXA Advisors, Grant focuses on providing estate planning, wealth accumulation and protection, life insurance, retirement planning, college funding, and other financial services. He is an active member of the South Florida community, serving on the foundation board of directors for both FIU and Florida A&M University.

Grant served on the United Way Resource Management Committee, and is a past-president of the FIU Alumni Association. He also serves on the advisory board for FIU’s Honors College.  Grant is the Author of the Book:  BOLD MOVES To Creating Financial Wealth.

He is also a member of the 100 Black Men of South Florida.  He was AXA Advisors’ “2005 Regional Honor Associate” and is AXA Advisors’ “2011 National Honor Associate” – the first African-American to win this prestigious award since the institution was founded more than 70 years ago.

Legacy Magazine has selected Grant as “One of South Florida’s 50 Most Powerfull Black Professionals of 2011”.

He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration from FIU. Grant lives in Palmetto Bay with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Jasmin and Gerald III.
