Chef Robert Irvine to headline Food & Rec Expo at BBC Oct. 24


Robert Irvine, host of the Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible, is headed to Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC).

The popular chef will be the keynote speaker for the 2011 FIU Biscayne Bay Food & Recreation Expo on Monday, Oct. 24, scheduled for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Panther Square in the Wolfe University Center.

Irvine is set to speak and put on a cooking demonstration beginning at 1 p.m. in the Mary Ann Wolfe Theatre. And yes, attendees will be able to taste what Irvine’s cookin’, together with students from the Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, so be sure to be there.

The Food & Rec Expo is open to all FIU students and faculty/staff, as well as members of the community. Community members are encouraged to pre-register in advance by clicking here and searching for “BBC Food and Rec Expo.”

The Expo’s Vendor Fair will take place at Panther Square from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Students, staff and outside community members can expect a variety of giveaways and promotional items. Some of the offerings that will be featured are health screenings, massages and recreational and health information provided by more than 40 community affiliates of the Campus Recreation Department.

Participating vendors include 5-hr Energy, Florida Blue, GNC, the Miami HEAT, The Miami Herald, Sports Authority and Whole Foods.
