FIU hosting energy industry leaders at two conferences

As oil drilling begins off the coast of Cuba, prices at the pump threaten to reach record levels and the debate over the Keystone Pipeline expansion continues, some of the world’s foremost experts on energy are set to convene at Florida International University for two industry conferences.

The Global Energy Outlook Forum will provide insight on U.S. reserves and dependence on foreign oil. Special guest speaker Scott Nauman, Corporate Strategic Planning Manager for ExxonMobil will present an outlook on energy supply and demand through 2040.

As part of its Global Energy Security Forum, the FIU College of Business and the FIU School of International and Public Affairs, together with the Consul General of Canada, will explore the full range of issues related to oil sands and the Keystone pipeline and their place in the U.S./Canadian relationship, including economic growth, trade, job creation, environment and energy security policy.

The conferences will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the MARC Pavilion at the FIU Modesto A. Maidique Campus. The Global Energy Outlook Forum will take place from 9 – 10:30 a.m. and the Global Energy Security Forum from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
