Interning in D.C. this summer? Governmental Relations wants to welcome you.

Know of a student headed to Washington, D.C., for an internship this summer? FIU’s Office of Governmental Relations would like to know.

Each semester many of FIU’s best and brightest arrive in the nation’s capital to pursue their dreams on Capitol Hill, at federal agencies or in the non-profit and private sectors. Who better than these ambassadors to share how FIU is Worlds Ahead?

This summer, the university’s Governmental Relations team, working with the Offices of Engagement, Undergraduate Education, Career Services and the FIU in D.C. Alumni Chapter will welcome these students in Washington, D.C., and create opportunities for students to help advance the FIU agenda while learning more about the federal policy arena.

Now in its second run, the FIU D.C. Summer Experience will include numerous activities for interns to partake in— mentoring matchmaking; workshops on advocacy; visits to federal agencies; networking with alumni and fellow students; and of course, some fun. D.C. in the summer is not a dull spot to be.

Advancing FIU’s federal agenda and research priorities in Washington, D.C., involves building exposure, fostering relationships and strengthening our reputation at many of the key organizations where our students will be working. Their presence is one of the most effective ways we build our support, and their successful internship placements increase the goodwill at these federal agencies while also training them to be some of our most effective advocates.

This year, Governmental Relations will continue its partnership with the FIU in D.C. Alumni Chapter (our network now numbers more than 1,000 proud Panthers) and are also joined by the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, which will sponsor our students at the 6th annual  Internship Conference this summer.
